IMPLICATIONS OF SETUP REDUCCTION IN THE PTODUCTIVITY OF PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
The need for product differentiation makes manufacturing systems have to continuously improve the performance in flexibility. The main objective of this research is to present and discuss the reduction of setup time in the filling line of a large Brazilian pharmaceutical industry. To conduct the research, were initially identified best practices and methodology for setup reduction in the literature. Then the company reports were analyzed to define the critical resource for making improvements. From the analysis of efficiency indicators made to analyze the performance of the packaging line before and after deployment. The main results of the research were the elimination of activities that do not add value to the process and improving asset utilization, giving the line a faster response to the frequent change of planning applications for customers. Furthermore, the reduction of movement of people in the hallways contributed to the reduction of contamination between areas, being an important factor of the manual of Good Manufacturing Practice pharmaceutical industry.
