EXPLORATION ON THE KNOWLEDGE AMAZONIAN SPECIES – inajá (Maximiliana maripa Aublt.) e bacaba (Oenocarpus bacaba Mart.)
Information related to scientific research and technological development are available on the
worldwide networks, yet their usage is still negligible even in academia. This article aims to
analyze the availability of information on the oil palms in the Amazon, which are inajá
(Maximiliana maripa Aublt.) and bacaba (Oenocarpus bacaba Mart.), that can be used in the food
industry, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and oil generation. These two oil palms had the scientific and technological exploration studied in articles and patents databases. It was found that the species
Inajá and Bacaba are little studied in academia and poorly protected through patents. Brazil
occupies a prominent position in publications and patents, but it is not significant when it comes to
species. This research presented the possible applications of oils in key areas of technology, as well
as in various human applications.
