Information technology is increasingly pervasive assisting in areas such as health. Information
technology in health has as objective to contribute in various aspects, such as the diagnosis and
treatment of diseases like cancer. The contributions in this line may be given by the production of
software as tools forthe treatment of disease, such as Siscam software produced by SUS and
nationally appropriate. The article presents a survey of software records to track patient treatment
with the most common cancers, which are: breast cancer, lung, prostate, stomach and colorectal.
The article aims to perform an analysis of the current state of the art in this business, which
national and international software production market this theme. Its outcome was the low number
of regisatros patents published in Brazil for the issue at hand.
