USE OF FLAVONOIDS IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY SECTOR: A TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING STUDY
Abstract
Natural products have been highlighted in the national research, also being increasingly used in
the industrial sector as a source of new products. Among the main classes of secondary metabolites
studied, the flavonoids are known for their chemical diversity and biological properties. The aim of this study was to perform a technological forecasting of flavonoids, analyzing the participation of
the Brazil in the deposits of patent applications in national and international databases. For this,
the technological forecasting was conducted in the European Patent Office, the Bank of World
Intellectual Property Organization, the Bank of America Patent and Trademark Office Database,
the Latin-American Bank of Patents and the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil. The
results showed that the United States is the main depositary country. The highest number of patents
has been deposited was in 2010 and the most abundant international classifications in this
forecasting were the A61K, A61P and A61Q subclasses.
