THE MOGNONI ’S TEST TO DETERMINING THE RUNNING SPEED IN ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD IN SOCCER: A CRITICAL REVIEW
Abstract
Progressive and submaximal tests enable the achievement of important physiological parameters that can be used for training prescription so as to monitor the athlete's performance in a given competitive period. Seeking to minimize costs and facilitate the operationalization, studies have been proposed with strategies to estimate the fitness of soccer players, especially the economic importance of this modality. Among the various existing and validated tests, submaximal running Mognoni’s test (SRMT), which has significant correlation with OBLA presents itself as an excellent alternative for application is in the field, whether in research. The present study aimed to investigate the scientific studies that have adopted such submaximal test to determine the running speed at the anaerobic threshold in soccer players. Based on the volume of publications about the Mognoni’s test in Brazil, it appears that the same is shown as unknown, however, it is recommended to use with Brazilian soccer players, as well as the suitability tests considered the "gold standard" adopted to determine the exercise intensity at the anaerobic threshold in Brazilian athletes.
