THE IMPORTANCE OF LOGISTICS FOR E-COMMERCE: A CASE STUDY
Abstract
Technological developments, especially telecommunications, possible expansion of the Internet,
coupled with the reduction in prices of equipment, drove the growth of electronic commerce in the
world. Thus, this expansion of digital commerce has an important and decisive physical component:
the logistics of delivery. Logistics, therefore, is the materialization of electronic transactions
associated with the movement of goods / products. In this context, through a case study using semistructured
interviews and SWOT analysis, we sought to identify the importance of logistics for
ecommerce. The research was conducted in a retail chain with operations in the South and
Southeast regions of Brazil, and the results, therefore, confirmed that among the attributes for a
successful e-commerce operation is logistics, this being a key determinant of the supply chain and
that may also have an effect on the brand and builds confidence among consumers, contributing to
the growth of e -commerce that in Brazil between 2001 and 2011 grew by 2881.81 %.
