TECNOLOGICAL EXPLORATION: THE APPLICATION OF GUM CASHEW (Anacardium occidentale) IN NANOTECHNOLOGY
Abstract
The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale), Anacardiaceae family, is a plant native to North and Northeast of Brazil, with winding crown architecture and different sizes largely grown in Brazil, mainly in the Northeast. The aim of this study was to prospecting, hoping to make the pursuit of precedence and present an overview of the current state of scientific and technological development related to implementation of cashew gum in nanotechnology, based on the number of patents and published articles. The exploration was conducted in the (European Patent Office Patent Europen - EPO, the Database of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the United States Patent and Trademark Office - USPTO and the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil - INPI as well as on the basis of periodic Web of Science. Brazil has the largest number of scientific articles involving Anacardium ocidentale, while Japan protection of this research. It was observed that the patents filed in these bases over half were deposited in the period from 2000 to 2012, showing an increase in research related to the cashew in the last 12 years, and that most of the patents have patent classification code A61K and A61P that are related to human needs.
