TECHNOLOGICAL MAPPING OF OBESITY TREATMENTS USING NATURAL COMPOUNDS OF FRUITS
Abstract
Obesity has become a global public health problem due to the fact a clear evidence of the association between obesity and several pathologies. New approaches to the treatment of obesity involve the inhibition of uptake of triglycerides by inhibition of pancreatic lipase. Natural products worth mentioning as lipase inhibitors primarily those found in edible fruit. The aim of this study was to evaluate treatments against obesity, with emphasis on the use of waste from fruit extracts and their secondary metabolites for inhibition of enzymes related to the absorption of nutrients by the body. Espacenet was used, since this database encompasses national and international patents filed and granted in more than 90 countries, including Brazil. On Espacenet, searches were carried out in relation to obesity treatments with emphasis on enzyme inhibitors using fruit waste. The patent search demonstrated that of the 1996 there was a considerable increase in 2013 deposit patents involving anti-obesity treatments. The areas of greatest relevance to patent protection were applications for medicinal purposes, pharmaceutical and therapeutic adding 91 patents and patent international classification A61K more applicant. CO7D codes and A23L also appear referring to chemical compounds and organic constituents of foods used in physical treatments. These studies and research on this subject has had many advances and there is great potential in Brazil for these studies due to large vegetable diversity.
