TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING: USE OF THE ALKALOIDS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurological disorder that affects more people around the world.
Currently, natural compounds derived from plants such as alkaloids, may be a promising
alternative, effective and with fewer side effects for the development of drugs for AD. The aim of
this study was to perform a technological forecasting alkaloids for the treatment of AD, analyzing
the amount of records deposits patent application in each country, through international bases yet.
For this, the prospect was held at Bank European Patent Office, the seat of the World Organization
of Intellectual Property, the Bank of America Patent and Trademark Office and in the database of
the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil. The international classification most
abundant in this exploration was A61K. Considering the year, the highest number of patents has
been deposited in the last 20 years. 53.85% of the patents were found deposited in the United
States, followed by Spain with 23.07%, the Republic of Korea with 15.39% and South Africa with
