TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING: USE OF SPECIES FROM THE GENUS PHYLLANTHUS FOR DRUGS PRODUCTION
Abstract
Plants from the genus Phyllanthus, with a widely variable number of species, are popular known in
Brazil as “stone-breaker”, because of its use in homemade teas in dissolving kidney and blatter
stones. In many countries species of this genus have been attracting interest from researchers given
to its possible applications in diseases treatments, as well as in cosmetics industry, areas of physics,
chemistry and metallurgy. This forecasting aimed to analyze patents on plant components, and for
that the databases INPI, EPO and USPTO have been used. Around 600 patents were found and
analyzed for country of publication, year of publication, types of publicants and international
classification of patents.
