TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING OF THE GENUS ANNONA (ANNONACEAE)
Abstract
The genus Annona L. belongs to the Annonaceae family and comprises approximately 162 species
of trees and shrubs. This genus is considered the main genus of the Annonaceae family by the
presence of fruit species of great commercial value, but also by presenting species with interesting
biological properties. The aim of this study was to perform a technological forecasting of the genus
Annona, analyzing Brazil’s participation in the deposits of patent applications in national and
international databases. For this, the technological forecasting was conducted in the European
Patent Office, the Bank of World Intellectual Property Organization, the Bank of America Patent
and Trademark Office Database, the Latin-American Bank of Patents and the National Institute of
Industrial Property of Brazil. The results showed that the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the
United States and the European Patent Office are the main depositories of documents involving
species of Annona. The largest number of patents was filed in 2010. The most abundant
international classification in this forecasting was C12N, followed by A01H, and A61K.
