TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING OF Ananas comosus (BROMELIACEAE)
Abstract
Ananas comosus, popularly known as pineapple, belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and has great economic importance because it presents the enzyme bromelain in its composition, being widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries. Regarding that Brazil is the biggest producer of pineapples in the world, the aim of this study was to perform a technological forecasting of Ananas comosus, analyzing Brazil’s participation in the deposits of patent applications in national and international databases. The technological forecasting was conducted in the European Patent Office, the Bank of World Intellectual Property Organization, the Bank of America Patent and Trademark Office Database and the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil. The international classifications in this forecasting survey that were most abundant were A01H, A01K and C12N. Among the major depositors are the United States and Japan. It was also observed an increased number of patents deposited in 2006 and 2010.
