SCIENTIFIC EXPLORATION OF SPECIES FROM THE GENUS ANNONA (ANNONACEAE) WITH ANTINOCICEPTIVE AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY
Abstract
The Annonaceae family has about 135 genera and 2,500 species distributed in tropical areas of the
Americas, Africa and Asia. It stands out for having a large number of species of importance to the
various industrial sectors. Some species have antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities,
among them, Annona squamosa L. The objective of this study was to conduct a scientific survey of
the Annona genus, identifying which species have antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity,
and the amount of published papers with these pharmacological actions. This scientific survey was
developed by searching the data banks Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus, SciELO and Lilacs held in
January 2015. It were found 75 articles, analyzed and identified as their inclusion criteria of the
study, totaling at the end 12 articles. The results showed that there are few studies related in
scientific circles about the possible antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory species of this genus.
