Scientific and Technological Prospection of PLGA Polymeric Nanoparticles containing Antimicrobial for Control Biofilms Formation
Abstract
Bacterial biofilms are a complex microorganisms association attached to biotic or abiotic surfaces, usually related to chronic infections and multidrug resistance. The conventional treatment with antibiotics does not eradicate the biofilm infections, so various strategies such as the use of polymeric nanoparticles PLGA (lactic-co-glycolic acid poly) showing promise against multidrug-resistant bacterial biofilm infections. Nanoparticles, PLGA and biofilms were the keywords used in the search for articles and patents using the databases Science Direct, WIPO, INPI and EPO. The searches of the databases resulted in 265 records of patents and 217 scientific articles in the last 11 years. The scientific and technological forecasting is an indispensable tool to chain of knowledge and necessary for better support and guidance in scientific research.
