SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL FORECASTING OF SPECIE Senna occidentalis (L.) Link
The species Senna occidentalis (L.) Link (synonymous Cassia occidentalis), belongs to Fabaceae or Leguminosae family, is native from South America and distributed in tropical regions around the world. This species is aplied in folk medicine as a tonic, febrifuge, stomachic and purgative. It shows several classes of secondary metabolites known as quinones, especially anthraquinones, flavonoids, xanthones, alkaloids, steroids and saponins. The goal of the study was to realize a scientific and technological prospection of the species S. occidentalis and your synonymous C. occidentalis in databases: European Patent Office (EPO), National Institute of Properties Industrial Brazil (INPI), Bank of Latin American Patents (LATIPAT) , United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Journal of Capes, ScienceDirect, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Scopus and Web of Science. With the keyword S. occidentalis were found 32 patents deposited in the EPO (19) and WIPO (13). The articles of scientific publications are recorded in Capes periodicals (514), ScienceDirect (22), SciELO (26), Scopus (339) and Web of Science (51). With its synonymous C. occidentalis there are 511 documents distributed at EPO (306) and WIPO (200), USPTO (2), LATIPAT (2) and INPI (1), while the items are recorded at Capes periodicals (965), ScienceDirect (52), SciELO (11), Scopus (350) and Web of Science (120). The results of technological prospection, showed that there are more registry of requests deposits application using the synonymous C. occidentalis. The study may help to value the technological prospection, the biodiversity and preservation of the species.
