REDUCING COSTS OF QUALITY AND IMPROVING PROCESSES: A CASE STUDY
Abstract
With the goal of becoming competitive, companies are promoting the reduction of costs of the
processes that impact directly on the price of the product, including the costs of quality. In this scenario, the search for total quality becomes the path to survival, due to the fact the increasing
requirement of customers for products with superior quality and low prices. Among the main
expenses that contribute to increased quality costs include the scrap and rework of products during
the production process. Due to the occurrence of these factors, this study aims to analyze the costs
of quality and propose improvements in the production process using quality tools to reduce waste
with junk. Phases of the project involve the commitment and dedication of teams to lift the main
causes of the main problems of the production process of copper capillary tubes, resulting in
reduction in scrap costs and increased productivity. The methodology used to achieve the objectives
was based on exploratory research and case study. From the cost reduction and increased
productivity achieved, noted the importance of this work involving teams responsible for achieving
results in the short term.
