QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY OF CAJUÍ (Anacardium spp.) MID-NORTH REGION
Abstract
The cajuizeiro (Anacardium spp.) is among the species of fruit crop with the potential to be
exploited in the Northeast. This species is not yet domesticated, thus studies should be expanded,
especially as their characterization, cultivation, preservation and processing, since it is a
potentially income-generating activity, particularly in the areas of occurrence. Given the above,
this study aimed to carry out the assessment of the physical and chemical quality of cajuís (chestnut
and apple) obtained in the area of Embrapa Meio-Norte in Teresina, PI. We collected mature fruits
during the harvest and analyzed the following characteristics: average weight of stems (PMP),
peduncle length (CP); diameter of the stalk (DMEDP); ratio CP / DMEDP; weight chestnut
(PMC); relationship PMC / PMP soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA) and TSS / TTA. The
results obtained in the evaluation study of the physical and chemical quality in cajuís, it was found
that there is a wide phenotypic variability in germplasm studied. The vast majority of genotypes
presents PMC <3.33g, therefore, classified as cajuís according to industry classification processing
cashews. It was also verified that the genotypes G-7, G-6, G-1 and G-14 are suitable for use in
natura. Finally, cajuizeiro presents itself as a promising fruit crop, especially in the Northeast
region of the country.
