PUBLIC INCENTIVES TO INNOVATION: ANALYSES, CRITIQUES AND PROPOSITIONS
Abstract
The article analyzes the main incentives offered by the State to innovation. Such incentives include
laws, grant funds and social organizations, such as: Lei da Inovação (innovation act), FNDCT and
Embrapii. Furthermore, shows problems on these stimuli and offers propositions so these incentives
can gain efficiency and Brazil can become competitive in the international market allied with
innovation. Moreover it seeks to demonstrate the role of innovation in Brazil’s development in the
economic and social core. Showing that innovation occurs not only when happens a radical break
with the standard, it’s possible to innovate creating new products and processes that facilitate
people's lives. For this innovative spirit to grow in Brazil, it must create a platform where ideas can
be exposed, modified, improved and brought to market successfully.
