Abstract
Historical records show that medicinal plants were used by several people, one of those the Zingiber officinal also known as ginger, found in tropical forests, and native of Southeast Asia. Ginger is a spice widely used to relieve symptoms such as inflammation, arthritis and gastrointestinal discomfort. Its extracts and its main pungent compounds, the gingerol, have shown various biological activities, including effects such as antineoplastic agents, antispasmodics, and antiemetics, enzyme inhibitors, anti-hemorrhagic, antifungal, protectors of neural cells, anti rheumatic, microbicides, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Therefore, we carried out a survey in order to get a global overview on the technological market ginger, which was made from a search keyword in the subject under study with the international classification codes in the database of the European patent Office (EPO), it'll get information on how inventors, companies involved, annual evolution of patents, the origin of the technology and distribution by country.
