Prospective Study of Nanoparticles of Bioactive Compounds with Nanoencapulation Emphasis: A Contribution on the Potentiality of this Technology
Abstract
Nanotechnology can be considered a trend in various sectors of the economy. In this context,
nanoparticles of bioactive compounds stand out for their versatility of functions/applications. This
prospective study aimed to assess picture of the subject in question, correlating it with the patent
documents filed from 1990 to 2015. The research was carried out from the association of codes
from the International Patent Classification with keywords on the subject in the Espacenet
database, resulting in 47 patents. The information found was compiled into graphs and discussed.
The use of this technology was mainly evidenced in the Pharmaceutical Industry (64%) and Food
Industry (21%), being the United States the main country holding patent applications. Brazil has
only 3 patent applications associated with the use of nanoparticles of bioactive compounds, thus
evidencing the importance for new technological incentives in the country. In view of the scenario
analyzed, one can observe the growing worldwide trend of this technology and its promising
association to nanoencapsulation.
