Prospective Study Incorporation of Net of Cashew Nuts Shell Liquid (Cnsl – Technical) in Chitosan Membrane for Use as Biomaterial
Abstract
Chitosan is a polymer derived from the deacetylation of chitin; It has composition that allows the
formation of gels, films and fibers, allowing its use in the preparation of membranes. Normally,
chitosan with other polymers is utilized to obtain more specific properties biomaterials. The cashew
nut shell liquid (CNSL) was more used at medicine, as antiseptics and wormers. Chitosan membranes
pure or mixed with other substances are used in the production of dressings for the treatment of
burns. Based on this information we conducted a prospective study of articles and patents related to
the application of chitosan membranes mixed with CNSL in the biomedical field. With the research
conducted in the Science Direct Elsevier's and Web of Science to search for articles, and INPI, EPO
and USPTO for patent search, no scientific work has not been found to indicate the existence of
chitosan membranes with CNSL and its application in any field.
