Abstract
Prospective approaches and processes aim to understand the forces and factors that guide the
future, promote transformations, negotiate spaces and orientate changes. Prospective studies are
carried out to “build knowledge”. In other words, it tries to add value to the present information,
turning it in data to support decision makers and politicians actions aiming the building of
strategies, identification of pathways, and prospection of future opportunities for social players.
The aim of this work is to map patented researches in copyright institutions (Espacenet, WIPO,
INPI) in october 2012, with the keywords “açaí”, Euterpe”, and “Euterpe oleracea” in title and
abstract fields. The Internation Patent Classification (ICP), year of publishing, and deposit
countries were analysed. The most of the patents were deposited with A23L and A61K
classification, related to Food Products and Medical Preparations.
