PREDECESSOR FACTORS OF ACCEPTANCE OF ELECTRONIC GAMES: A REPLICATION OF UTAUT2 MODEL FOR YOUNG USERS
Abstract
The objective of this research is to identify the background factors of acceptance of electronic games for young users using the model Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) developed by Venkatesh, Thong and Xu (2012). Students of a Brazilian public university, located at the city of Osasco-SP, using a structured questionnaire with twenty-eight Likert type scale affirmatives, answered the research, which is a cross-sectional survey. The data were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling and the results showed the strong influence of Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, the Habit and Hedonic Motivation in Using Electronic Games of Intent. It was also found a positive relationship between the Intent of Use and Behavior, and a moderating variable was identified, related to Experience, that affected the influence of Facilitating Conditions on Consumption.
