PATENT PROSPECT INVOLVING SYNTHETIC AND NATURAL DRUGS FOR TREATMENT VITILIGO
Abstract
Vitiligo is a depigmentation disorder, relatively common and of great clinical and aesthetic value. Until now, there is no cure for it, but there are many proposed therapies of treatment. However, their effectiveness vary a lot between individuals and its results frequently are unsatisfactory. Many research groups have been focusing their efforts on the development of new drugs to treat vitiligo. This paper had the objective of prospecting patent requests aiming to treat vitiligo involving synthetic and natural products between 2010-2015. The prospection was performed in the European Patent Office, in the database of World Intellectual Property Organization, in the database of United States Patent and Trademark Office and in the database of Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Intelectual of the Brazil. The profile of depositors is mostly partnerships involving businesses, industries and universities. Among the largest patent depositors, China, USA and South Korea stand out. Data shows that the pursuit for new treatments of vitiligo is of great matter and is stimulating the participation of industries and universities in the generation of new products. This way, the knowledge of possible therapeutic options to treat vitiligo is relevant to guide the researches that work in that area.
