MODELING, SIMULATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE OPERATIONAL DYNAMICS OF AN SIGNBOARDS MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Abstract
Decision making in the management of the production process in small companies is generally
based on the experience of the employee responsible for the production. Decisions based only on
experience generally result in bottlenecks, deficiencies in the design, inefficient allocation of
employees and operational problems. Given the need to improve the process of decision making in
small companies, our work aims to analyze through simulation and optimization techniques, the
operational dynamics of the signboards manufacturing process in a small company in western
region of the Paraná. The simulation and optimization were performed using the Arena simulation
package, which includes the simulation software OptQuest. With the implemented model was
possible to test by means of simulation and optimization techniques, different combinations of the
variables under study, resulting in a new arrangement of the employees on the production line with
production increase.
