Mapping Scientific Production Related to Smart Cities
Abstract
Smart cities are those that use technology to generate efficiency in urban operations, in which they maintain their economic development and improve the quality of life of the population, which in
turn are automated and sustainable. For this reason, the growth of the urban population and problems such as infrastructure and limited access to resources in several cities around the world
negatively affect the lives of billions of people. In this way, making cities smarter can help improve
urban services, increase the quality of life of their citizens, as well as help public authorities to
recognize problems in real time, help citizens to produce information, helping to map, discuss and
face these issues. difficulties. The work methodology consists of an exploratory study, which is
quantitative in nature. The results presented show that scientific productions referring to smart
cities in the Scopus base have a relative number of articles equivalent to 7,042 in the period under
analysis (1971 - 2019), however Brazil occupies the fourteenth position with 165 studies related to
the theme, which shows the need for this country to be among the ten most published on the subject.
As in the last three years (2017, 2018 and 2019) the number of publications has increased considerably, it is expected that in 2020 this value will increase, mainly with the use of the technique of mapping scientific production being possible that the researcher can use it to future searches, thereby improving the quality of your searches.
