Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the interactions of a Science and Technology Institute (ICT), the
National Institute of Technology (INT), with the chemical companies, major area of activity of the
institution. Also aims to assess the knowledge of these companies, about policies to encourage
innovation, and how these policies have contributed to the relationship ICT – Company. It was
found that both by the INT as by the firms that the greatest interaction occurs at the technological
services. In regard the policies to encourage innovation it was found that the Innovation Law and
the recent creation of the Brazilian Enterprise of Research and Industrial Innovation - Embrapii
has not impacted significantly on joint projects of R & D. It was found that there is a greater
interest in politics of tax incentives (The Good Law) by the chemical companies, which is explained
by the search for improving the competitiveness of those companies.
