INNOVATION IN THE USE OF RESIDUAL FROM THE SUGAR-ALCOHOL SECTOR
Abstract
A subject that deserves attention and wide approach in academic researches is sustainable
development, along with the search for solutions for the problems that affect society in many ways.
The use of alternative materials seeking solutions for noise caused problems aims at offering comfort and convenience for urban environments as well as at being an alternative for the final
destination of solid residues produced by other economic sectors. So, this study aims at developing
an alternative drywall refill for acoustic conditioning using residual fibers from the sugar-alcohol
sector. Once the researched material was produced, tests were conducted for determination the
acoustic performance. To characterize the acoustic performance, a sound transmission loss test
was conducted in three drywalls refills were compared in regard to the sound transmission values:
refill researched, glass wool and air. At the end of the tests it is possible to conclude that the panel
with the refill researched performed superiorly when analyzed in low frequencies.
