EXPLORATION TECHNOLOGY OF BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY WITH FOCUS ON ANTIDIARRHEAL ACTIVITY OF CARVACROL AND CARVACRYL ACETATE
Abstract
In this technology prospection, the aim of this study was realize a technological exploration about the biological activities already described for carvacrol and carvacryl acetate, with emphasis on the possible applications of these substances as antidiarrheal agents. For this, it was obtained information about scientific publications in PubMed, Web of ScienceTM, Scopus and Scielo. Information about patents were obtained in USPTO, EPO, WIPO and INPI. In both cases were used specific key words and boolean operators in the abstract field of search. Thus, it was verified that in international databases of scientific publications, there are many articles about carvacrol, but is relatively low the number of patents, specifically involving an eventual antidiarrheal activity for the substance. Furthermore, generally in all databases, the scientific production and the patents deposit applications are scarce as regard carvacryl acetate. This demonstrates that there are great opportunities for scientific research involving the description of biological activities of compounds, such as carvacrol and carvacryl acetate, especially about the possible occurrence of antidiarrheal properties.
