ESTUDO DA CINÉTICA DE SECAGEM, EXTRAÇÃO, CARACTERIZAÇÃO E ESTABILIDADE TÉRMICA DO ÓLEO DAS SEMENTES DE MARACUJÁ DO MATO (PASSIFLORA CINCINNATA MAST.)
Abstract
The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of using wild passion fruit (Passiflora cincinnata Mast.) seeds for oil extraction. The seeds were dehydrated in a convective dryer purposing to study the best drying conditions at the temperatures of 50, 60 and 70°C. Drying kinetics experimental data was adjusted to the mathematical models proposed by Brooker, Fick, Lewis and Residues equations, using non-linear regression. Oils extractions were performed in different temperatures through Soxhlet system. Subsequently, physico-chemical analyses and thermal stability studies of the oils were carried out. Brooker and Lewis mathematical models presented the best settings for the kinetics drying at the temperature of 70°C which R² was higher than 0.9998. The oils extracted from the seeds presented density values between 0.90 and 0.94, refractive index between 1.45 and 1.48 and water activity from 0.58 until 0.74. Referring to thermal stability, the TG/DTG and DSC curves showed endothermic and exothermic peaks, indicating loss of volatile compounds and residues thermal decomposition. Samples were totally disintegrated over 600°C.
