E-RECRUITMENT IN THE HOTEL INDUSTRY: A STUDY IN THE CITY OF MACEIÓ
Abstract
The present work has analyzed the use of the Internet as a tool for recruiting staff in the hotel
industry companies, evaluating thus, the intensity of its advantage as a tool for modern Personnel
Management. For the effectuation of this work, a survey of quantitative and exploratory character was conducted. The universe was composed of businessmen and employees of the hotel industry of
Maceió/AL, due to the great prominence of this place, considered national touristic poly and
benchmark. Thus, data was collected together with 22 professionals in Personnel Management in
Maceió through a structured questionnaire, being a manager in each hotel. Regarding the
employees, another structured questionnaire was used with 177 employees in Maceió. It should be
noted that the sampling was via accessibility, ie, not probabilistic. But it is worth mentioning that,
considering all the questionnaires, there are 199 valid ones. The data collected was analyzed via
software SPSS - Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The results obtained in this study suggests
that managers recognize the potential of the internet, it is underutilized, same for employees who do
not use the internet as a way of seeking new opportunities or their current occupation.
