COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT METHODOLOGIES PMBOK AND AGILE – A CASE STUDY WITH COMPANIES OF THE BRAZILIAN ENERGETIC SECTOR
Abstract
In a context of project management methodologies, there are different approaches to seeking
competitive advantage, improving planning capacity, optimizing processes and improving team
work’s communication. This research has the general objective of analyzing the PMBoK and
AGILE project management methodologies, in a comparative way, based on a SWOT analysis. The
first one is in a more traditional approach, proposed by the PMI (Project Management Institute)
and the second is characterized by a more innovative, current and flexible approach. To develop
this work, a bibliographical research was carried out to evaluate the results that have already been
achieved in this area. In addition, a case study was carried out in the development of a software
project that uses the AGILE methodology, carried out in a partnership between two companies:
HOC and Energisa. This work has as main result the difficulties of implementing the AGILE
methodology in a real case of software development in the Brazilian electrical sector, pondering
what the characteristics of each methodology were essential for adapting the AGILE method in the
project development.
