BIOPRODUCTS APPLIED TO DENTISTRY: TECHNOLOGICAL PROSPECTING
Abstract
Studies with natural products are increasing because from these bioactives are obtained that can
be used both for therapeutic purposes and for the development of drugs with
applications in dentistry. Biological activities attributed to plants have already been proven,
among them its activity against common conditions in dentistry such as caries, stomatitis,
gingivitis, periodontitis and others. In this context, the objective of this work was to carry out a
technological prospection on the applications of bioproducts in dentistry through the
mapping of patents in the databases of the National Institute of Industrial Property,
World Intellectual Property Organization, European Patent Office and United States Patent and
Trademark Office. As a result, it was found that the development of
technologies that involve products obtained from medicinal plants to be used in
dentistry.
