BIOMASS PRODUCTION FROM BIOMASS: PROSPECTING PATENTS IN BRAZIL
Abstract
Every day increases the concern about the situation of the environment and many factors are responsible for this concern, including the quality of the air we breathe, the fear of natural disasters and even the preservation of the environment for future generations. In this scenario, government and industry seek to apply environmental policies that reduce the negative impacts to nature. Industry and agro-industries produce many high-value reusing waste that require appropriate destination, because, in addition to pollute, represent losses of energy and raw materials, and require significant resources on treatments to control pollution. It's great Brazilian scientific literature on the re-use of waste as sugarcane bagasse, rice hulls, coffee grounds, coconut shell, among others, as a substrate for producing compounds of biotechnological origin. However, the number of patent applications filed in this area is still quite small. In this work will be presented an overview of patent applications ratio related to the use of biomass for the production of biomolecules in Brazil.
