ASSOCIATED TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNOLOGICAL PROSPECTION OF HANCORNIA SPECIOSA GOMES
The mangabeira (Hancornia Speciosa Gomes) is a fruit plant of tropical climate, native to Brazil and found in various regions of the country. Due to its high incidence and consumption, mangaba became in Sergipe state symbol fruit. Because of this intense historical and cultural relationship that manifests itself in the state of Sergipe mangaba is a source of generating employment and income for the so-called extractive communities Collectors of Mangaba, which also developed different forms of exploitation of mangabeira. Some surveys show that the Traditional Knowledge associated with mangaba present in Sergipe sandbanks have great scientific and technological value. The objective of this study was to technological prospection of mangaba in patent databases to verify the use of Traditional Knowledge arising from Mangaba Culture’s. The technological prospection was carried out in the following patent databases: INPI, USPTO, Espacenet and LATIPAT using the keywords "Hancornia", "Hancornia and Speciosa", "Hancornia" and "Gomes" and "Mangaba" comprising all requests patent existing 2015. The results show that most of the national patent applications are related to agribusiness-based products. The main pharmaceutical applications observed in the patent search bases refer to antihypertensive treatment and bone regeneration as potential reported by Collectors of Mangaba of Sergipe sandbank, which suggested the application of traditional knowledge by companies and research centers, however they have been observed in other potential mangaba as for the treatment of HIV and as raw material precursor compounds of interest for the production of medicaments.
