ASPECTS AFFECTING STUDENTS GRADUATION CONTINUITY IN ACADEMIC STRICTO SENSU
Abstract
This study is the result of an investigation conducted in the form of survey, the students graduation
of a particular course in a private educational institution located in Rio Grande do Sul This survey
was administered electronically and was composed of twelve closed questions through which
students were asked about their expectations of academic continuity and the importance to their careers and the development of the region in which they operate, with the main focus on the courses
of post-graduate studies. Possible factors influencing the continuity of studies, such as financial,
personal interest and lack of knowledge regarding the concepts and programs lato sensu and
stricto sensu offered locally, were also addressed. The results showed that the sample obtained,
there was demonstration of interest of 97% of students in academic continuity whereas 98.8% of
them considered that continuity as a key factor for its growth, but we found 58.3% of students do
not has knowledge about the program of the institution where they belong, and that 88.4% of them
cited the high investment as an obstacle.
