APPLICATIONS OF CELLULOSE PHOSPHATE IN BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES: A TECNHOLOGIC PROSPECTION
Abstract
Chemically modified cellulose matrices have been widely used as substrates for the immobilization
of reagents for diverse applications. Among the derivatives of cellulose, cellulose phosphate,
cellulose phosphate groups incorporated has gained much attention in recent years due to their
application in adsorption of metals, proteins and biomedical applications. This exploration was
performed by searching the patent databases INPI, EPO and USPTO on the basis of periodic and
Web of Science in order to obtain information about the studies of cellulose phosphate applied to
biological activity (cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, and antibacterial activity antimicrobial activity). We
found no patent related to cellulose phosphate applied to biological activity. Found only three
papers related to cellulose phosphate applied to biological activities (2 articles related to
cytotoxicity and 1 item related to antimicrobial activity). In general, exploration shows that the
application prospect of cellulose phosphate is a promising biological activities, due to the few
studies found.
