ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN RESEARCH METHODS USED TO CONDUCT STUDIES ABOUT INNOVATION IN BRAZIL
Abstract
The methodological procedures are not always a central concern of the research, but are a means to achieve meaningful and reliable results. Thus, an appropriate methodological approach can help researchers both in the conduct of research, as well as, subsequently, to ensure recognition of his scientific investigation. Thus, the aim of this work is to study, through an analysis of the literature, which are the main methods of research and its developments, used by researchers to conduct studies related to innovation in Brazil. To reach this objective, 26 national journals, in the field of operations management, administration and engineering, were analyzed. It was observed that most of the articles does not show the research method used to conduct the work. Moreover, those who identify the research method, the majority employs the case study, although not always in a methodologically appropriate approach. It’s possible to observe, also, that most of the articles analyzed involve empirical work, and those more theoretical are even more insufficient in regard to methodological procedures. Finally, we present some limitations of this study, as well as opportunities for future work.
