ANALYSIS OF SURFACE RESPONSE OF BLENDS OF CASTOR OIL AND BABASSU
Abstract
The castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) is an oilseed plant that has received great attention in the
Brazilian biodiesel. The program has the option for castor bean plantation due to its characteristics
of cultivation, adapting to multiple soil types and characteristics of family management. However,
due to its high viscosity, castor oil has been increasingly disposed on the Brazilian scene from
biodiesel production, so it becomes necessary mixing (blends) of this oil with other smaller
viscosity. Given this context, we aim to determine through analysis of the response surface, the band blends between babassu and castor oils having viscosities acceptable according to the
standards. This paper will also discuss aspects reactive since it takes into account the variation of
the molar ratio in the reaction.
