ANALYSIS OF LINEAR CORRELATION BETWEEN THE MAXIMUM DENSITY AND CALIFORNIA BEARING RATIO.
Abstract
Experiments and tests on the materials used in pavements are extremely important for correct sizing
and control on highways execution. Among the tests typically performed there are Compression
Normal Test and California Bearing Ratio. Soil’s compaction, through the regrouping of the
particles and accommodation, should provide for the compaction adopted, the greater resistance as
stable as possible. In this context, was performed a statistical study by verifying the correlation
between the results obtained in testing samples from a deposit used to compose the structural
material of a BR101/SE’s work piece doubling. As a result, we could notice that, although the
density and strength have some relationship, in this experiment, the CBR of the samples had no
linear correlation with the maximum densities obtained, it was concluded that other material’s
characteristic factors can influence the behavior of soils when they are subjected to tension.
