ANALYSIS OF AN INVESTMENT PROJECT TO MINIMIZE THE BREAKS OF STOCK WITH THE USE OF MULTI-INDEX METHODOLOGY AND MONTE CARLO SIMULATION
Abstract
This paper is a study case in Alpha Company Distributor of Foods, based in Colombo / PR, which
distributes refrigerated products, especially yogurt. The objective is analyze an investment project
to minimize breakages of stock. For this purpose, we used the multi-rate methodology, Monte Carlo
simulation, semi-structured interviews with employees of the sector inventories and quantitative
analysis of the breaks occurred during the 2nd half of 2012. Based on a proposal to expand the
storage structure were determined inflows and cash outflows as well as variation parameters.
Based on this flow are calculated several indicators, both return and a risk, and found the
feasibility of the proposed investment, since the Monte Carlo simulation likely NPV is greater than
zero is 99,9%, the IRR is greater than MTA is 99,9% and Methodology Multi-Index returns are
greater than the risks of the project.
