AN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY STUDY WITH IFPI-OEIRAS TEACHERS
Intellectual property (IP) is a field of knowledge directly related to the innovation processes of public and/or private organizations. It guarantees the holder of an intellectual creation the protection of what he has created, enabling exploitation, ownership and exclusivity over his inventions, through trademarks, patents, copyrights, among others. This research aimed to verify the level of knowledge of the teachers of the Federal Institute of Piauí, Campus Oeiras, about the Brazilian intellectual property system. It consisted of a field study, descriptive and of a quantitative nature. Data collection took place through the application of structured questionnaires with objective questions. It was found that the professors and researchers of the Federal Institute of Piauí - Campus Oeiras are still devoid of information about the science of intellectual property. Despite the number of teachers who have developed technological innovations, few have protected what they have created. Intellectual property is an important factor to be worked on by NIT, since the knowledge inherent to this area directly interferes with the innovation aspects of the institution. With the dissemination of information, researchers can acquire a culture focused on the protection of their creations, which may also boost the process of technological transfer and the dissemination of innovations of the Institution of Science and Technology in the productive environment and society.
