ACTION PLAN ANALYSIS FOR PRODUCTION AND SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION IN BRAZIL
Abstract
The objective was to evaluate the Action Plan for Production and Sustainable Consumption
developed by the federal government and analyze the governmental evaluation tool for
conscious consumption. The methodology in the first step was to build a new questionnaire adapting the original Akatu for application to consumers. This new instrument was developed
from the technology platform Google Drive and consisted of 13 questions that inferred on
sustainable consumption. It is perceived that the government in order to create a more just
and responsible society from the standpoint of the use of natural resources, creates legal
instruments to implement policies aimed at sustainable consumption. A major challenge
facing Brazil today is to integrate environmental sustainability with economic growth and
welfare. The challenge is to improve the overall environmental performance of products
throughout their life cycle, to drive demand for better products and production technologies
and help consumers make informed choices.
