Fungicide potential of Jatropha curcas L

Resumo


O gênero Jatropha pertence à família Euphorbiaceae e contém 186 espécies conhecidas. No Brasil, o pinhão-manso (Jatropha curcas L.) surge como alternativa para o fornecimento de matéria-prima, por possuir alta produtividade de óleo, apresentar baixo custo de produção e ser resistente ao estresse hídrico, o que seria uma vantagem significativa principalmente na região semiárida do país. Além desta utilização, tem sido constatado grande potencial para uso medicinal e na agricultura como agente fungicida, acaricida e inseticida. Entretanto, o incentivo ao cultivo do pinhão-manso em extensas áreas causa grande apreensão com a pesquisa agrícola no Brasil, devido à grande limitação do conhecimento técnico sobre esta cultura. Com o intuito de obter informações sobre o uso do extrato de diferentes partes da planta, realizou-se uma prospecção em bancos de dados de pesquisa científica, tecnológica e de patentes, bem como nos sites do Ministério da Saúde e no Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, e da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária. Observou-se que há registros acadêmicos sobre o uso de extratos de diferentes partes do pinhão-manso, evidenciando a importância desta espécie para a formulação de produtos fitossanitários. No entanto, existem poucos registros de patentes referentes ao uso do extrato de pinhão-manso como fungicida nas diferentes bases de dados pesquisadas, evidenciando a necessidade de se realizar novas pesquisas direcionadas aos multiusos que esta espécie possui.
